Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

501stCast: Episode 86 features an interview with David Collins on The Comlink, audio of George Lucas discussing his museum, and the usual roundup of troop reports. Even if you’re not looking to catch up with what the 501st is up to, this episode is worth checking out for the David Collins interview. All the troop reports are in the later half of the show if you’re looking to skip them. Personally, I kinda like hearing the troop reports as it’s a good way to stay in touch with what’s going on with the Legion.

Assembly of Geeks:More Star Trek, Hunger Games & Geek Gifts” covers some trailer discussion of Terminator: Genisys, Admiral 80’s thoughts on The Force Awakens teaser trailer, Star Trek 3 discussion, Hunger Games origin stories, movie awards, geek gift ideas, fun with tractor beams, and an introduction to Tricia’s replacement, Amy Marie.

Bombad Radio: Episode 179 features a nice interview the Mark Newbold. Mark talks about getting into fandom, running websites like Lightsaber and now Jedi News, his thoughts on Marvel getting the license for Star Wars back, and other Star Wars topics. Mark is humble as always and it’s a good interview. If you’re a fan of Radio 1138 or visit the site Jedi News UK, you should check out the episode as it’ll give you a better idea of who Mark is and what he and James Burns have accomplished.

Coffee with Kenobi: Rebels Reactions with Taylor Gray is an interview episode with the voice actor for Ezra in Star Wars Rebels. They talk about how to pronounce Lothal, how Taylor got the gig, his impressions and comments about the characters, and the direction from Dave and others. It’s a good interview but the audio is a little choppy. Still worth listening to, though.

Disney Vault Talk: Alice in Wonderland episode has the usual pre-show discussion–listener feedback, news, etc–then kicks in with special guest Ashley Eckstein who stops by to talk Alice in Wonderland with them. Ashley shares why Alice in Wonderland is her favorite animated Disney film, her own Alice collection, and her missed opportunity to be Alice. They also have a side convo about cats that’s entertaining. Afterwards, Teresa and Steve have their own breakdown of the film, which makes this episode feel a bit longer than usual. If you’re an Alice fan, you’ll definitely want to check it out.

Sidekicks episode starts out with news and such then heads into a discussion of Disney sidekicks, thus taking a break from their usual film discussions.

Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode #14 features two guests, Geek Girl Diva and Sarah Woloski (Jedi Tink from Skywalking Through Neverland), as they discuss The Force Awakens trailer, Disney parks Star Wars news, and Star Wars Rebels. Afterwards they have an interview with Anne Neumann, general manager of Rancho Obi-Wan. I really enjoyed the interview with Anne because nobody ever talks with Anne, they always interview Steve Sansweet, and Steve always mentions Anne, but you never get to hear from her. This goes a long way in correcting that by finally letting Anne speak out about Rancho Obi-Wan, Star Wars fandom and collectibles.

Full of Sith: Episode XCVI is hosted by Mike and includes guests Mark Newbold and Amy Ratcliffe as they talk about Star Wars and fandom. They cover their best Christmas gifts, their work in fandom and more. Great episode of Star Wars fans hanging out, sharing stories, and just fun to listen to.

Geek Out Loud: Episode 112 includes Steve’s responses to listener feedback regarding The Force Awakens trailer, discussion of the fake trailers, and Steve’s breakdown of the teaser. I really liked Steve’s comment about the X-Wings having S-foils in attack positions as I haven’t heard anyone mentions this before. Those X-Wings are definitely getting ready for some action. Steve also discusses the music, compares it to other trailers, debates the possibility of title cards, and touches on George Lucas storytelling. For a solo host show, Steve does a great job of keeping things entertaining.

On A GOL Like This” episode includes Flash talk, food talk, whether the Dark Knight is kid friendly (a topic I hadn’t thought and I have to agree with Steve on this one), Luke Episode VII thoughts, Muppets, Smallville, comics, SHIELD, and then the hosts of Techno Retro Dads show up for a fun Santa and 80’s tv show discussion. Finishing things off, Steve covers Terminator, Jurassic Park, Marvel and Bond movie news. Lots packed into this episode so there’s lots to enjoy.

Radio 1138: Episode 21 kicks off with some The Force Awakens trailer discussion, they talk with Mark Mulcaster from the Rebel Legion, play a clip from an older interview Mark did with Anthony Daniels that’s pretty cool to hear, then Jonathan Wilkins comes on to go over all the latest stuff for Star Wars Insider. From cut content from the Star Wars: The Original Trilogy Costumes book, an interview with Randy Stradley, new fiction and a tease about Star Wars Celebration news, there’s lots to look forward to. Wrapping things up they talk with Gary Hailes from the 501st UK Garrison and then cover the Star Wars character names. Nice episode overall with lots to check out.

Episode 22 is a con report from Farthest From and a look back at all that’s happened this year.

RebelForce Radio: Episode 12.19.2014 features special co-host Chris Macht who joins Jason and Jimmy as they cover the story behind Poe Dameron’s name, dive into the trailer and character names, the Disney park Star Wars news, Frank Oz’s return to Star Wars and George’s comments on The Force Awakens. This week I decided to listen in to the spoiler section and there is some stuff people avoiding spoilers may want to avoid, assuming any of the rumors turn out to be true. Either way, it was a very entertaining holiday show. I really like the episodes that Chris Macht is on, he makes a good guest.

Skywalking Through Neverland: Episode 58 covers Star Wars Christmas decorations, they chat with Steve Sansweet about the Rebel Recruiter Program, Bantha Tracks gifts, and C-3PO stops by to read some more letters to Santa. Then they speak with Simon Wilkie about his latest C-3PO appearances. Afterwards they talk with Dave Skale about Haunted Mansion Holidays. Excellent show with lots of great guests covering both Disney and Star Wars.

Star Wars Action News: Episode 438 includes some action figure discussion as Arnie and Marjorie go through what figures you can find and where. They also talk Hot Toys and the Shadow Trooper exclusive. Plus Brock provides a spoiler free review of James Luceno’s Tarkin.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode #35 includes Teresa and Aaron’s thoughts on The Force Awakens from the title to the trailer and the character names. Then they review Darth Maul – Son of Dathomir and Star Wars Volume 3: Rebel Girl. Plus they share their thoughts on all the Marvel Star Wars #1 cover variants.

Star Wars Report: Episode #156 dives into some news–the Disney theme park news for Star Wars, Mark Hamill’s comments on BB-8, and of course, the character names for The Force Awakens.

Star Wars with Friends: Episode #31 features an interview with Greg Weisman. They talk diversity, Star Wars Rebels, Young Justice, Gargoyles and Hercules. It’s a really nice interview touching on some nice subjects. Afterwards they have a post-interview discussion.

Episode #28 is their The Force Awakens discussion. Everyone shares their story of seeing the teaser trailer, and they bring up a good point about the narrator being Force sensitive. In hindsight it’s funny how everyone thinks Andy Serkis’ voice is modulated (something just about everyone assumed but, according to Entertainment Weekly, is untrue). This particular discussion includes a fun variety of opinions with a very large selection of guests making for perhaps the most fun trailer discussion I’ve heard yet. However, it’s really really long.
